No upload to any server = zero waiting

Convert video & audio right in your browser

Extract audio, make GIFs, convert to MP4, WebM or HLS — your files never leave your device.

0 B uploaded — this page has not sent your files to any server?

Fast because there's no upload — other converter sites spend minutes just uploading your file. This tool starts converting right inside your browser, and your file never leaves your device. How this differs from upload-based sites — most converter sites upload your video or recording to a server, process it there, and promise to delete it after a while. Until that happens, your file is sitting on someone else's server. vidmoa has no upload step at all. The more sensitive the file — a recorded meeting, a phone call, family footage — the more that difference matters.

Why won’t this file play here, and which format fixes it?

The same clip can play on one device and be rejected by another app purely because of the format it is packed in. This converter lets you choose from nine output formats on one screen: MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, GIF, MP4, WebM and HLS. Everything is processed inside your browser, and several files can be queued at once.

A closer look

Behind that single menu, the work takes very different routes. For MP3 and WAV, your browser’s own audio engine decodes the sound, which is then written out with an MP3 encoder or as 16-bit PCM. For GIF, video frames are drawn one by one and reduced to a 256-color palette. MP4, WebM, FLAC, OGG, M4A and HLS are handled by a conversion engine that runs in the browser. That engine is about 31 MB; it is downloaded on your first conversion and loads from cache after that.

How long it takes depends on whether anything has to be re-encoded. When you choose MP4, the tool first tries to move the existing video and audio streams into a new file without touching them, so an H.264/AAC clip finishes in seconds with zero quality loss. If only the audio is incompatible, just the audio is converted to AAC. If that fails too, it falls back to playing the video and recording it again, which takes as long as the clip itself. WebM and HLS always re-encode the picture, so their time grows with length and resolution, and the Video quality preset you pick sets the balance between sharpness and file size.

How to use it

When it helps

Opening iPhone MOV clips on WindowsRepackage a MOV as MP4 to hand it to a Windows PC or an Android phone. If the clip was recorded in H.264, the streams are copied as-is and it’s done in seconds.
Lectures for the commutePull the audio out of a recorded class or webinar as MP3 and listen with the screen off. For speech, the 128 kbps setting keeps the file small.
Archiving recordings losslesslyTurn bulky WAV recordings into FLAC to store them in less space without any loss in sound quality.
Streaming video from your own siteChoose HLS to get an index.m3u8 playlist plus segment-000.ts chunks in one ZIP. Unzip it into one folder on your web server and point a player at index.m3u8.

Common snags

“Could not read audio from this file.”MP3 and WAV rely on the browser to decode the sound, so this appears when the file has no audio track or uses a codec the browser doesn’t know. Converting to M4A or FLAC is worth a try, because those go through the conversion engine instead.
The MOV became an MP4 but still won’t open.MP4 conversion copies the streams without re-encoding, so an iPhone clip recorded in HEVC is still HEVC inside the new MP4. If the receiving device can’t play HEVC, it can’t play the result either. For future clips, set iPhone Settings → Camera → Formats to “Most Compatible” to record in H.264.
My GIF only shows the first five seconds. On this page, GIF output uses fixed settings: five seconds from the start, 8 frames per second, at most 480 px wide. To choose the start time, length (up to 10 s), frame rate or width, use the MP4 to GIF page.
Big files fail or the tab freezes. The converter holds the whole file in browser memory while it works, and for MP3 and WAV it also holds the fully decoded sound, so multi-gigabyte videos or recordings several hours long can hit the limit. Close other tabs, or split the file with Trim Video first. If MP4 conversion switches to the re-record mode, keep the tab visible until it finishes.

Tip In a batch, one failed file doesn’t stop the rest, and the reason is written on its row, so scan the list once the queue is done.
