Convert formats (MP4, WebM, HLS, MP3, GIF…)

Convert files into the format you need, with a wide range of combinations.

Fast because there's no upload — other converter sites spend minutes just uploading your file. This tool starts converting right inside your browser, and your file never leaves your device. How this differs from upload-based sites — most converter sites upload your video or recording to a server, process it there, and promise to delete it after a while. Until that happens, your file is sitting on someone else's server. vidmoa has no upload step at all. The more sensitive the file — a recorded meeting, a phone call, family footage — the more that difference matters.

Your video never gets uploaded — how?

vidmoa works in a fundamentally different way from most online video sites.

🌐 A typical video site
1Upload your hundreds-of-MB video to their server
2Process it on someone else’s server
3Download the result again

⚠️ Your video sits on their server until it’s deleted, and the bigger it is, the longer the upload takes.

비디오모아
🔒 Right in your browser
✓Extract MP3, record your screen, trim and compress on your own device
✓It never touches a server (zero upload)
✓Save the result directly

✅ Not a single byte of your video leaves over the network. The “0 B uploaded” figure is measured live.

⚡ Zero upload waitHundreds of MB start instantly
♾️ No limits or watermarkNo count or size caps
🔒 Files stay on your deviceMeetings and calls stay private

The work of processing video runs inside the web page itself. Re-encoding does scale with a clip’s length, so a long video takes longer.

When you’d use it

📤 Prep before sharingShrink a file to fit an email or chat limit, trim to just the part you need, and convert to MP4 so it opens anywhere.
🔒 Protect identitiesBlur faces in a clip and clean background noise out of meeting or call recordings — nothing leaves your device.
🎬 Create and captureRecord your screen for a demo, record audio, burn subtitles onto the picture, and pull a clip out as a GIF.
🎵 Pull the audio outExtract MP3 or M4A from a video, cut music into a ringtone, and convert between audio formats.

MP4, MOV, WebM, GIF, MP3: what’s the difference, and which video tool do you need?

A clip plays fine on your phone but gets rejected by a work laptop or an upload page, or a three-minute video blows past an email attachment limit. Most of these problems make sense once you know how a video file is put together and what decides its size, so here are the basics and a quick way to pick the right tool.

A closer look

MP4, MOV and WebM are containers: wrappers that hold a video track and an audio track in sync. The picture and sound inside are compressed with codecs. An MP4 usually carries H.264 or HEVC video with AAC audio, while a WebM carries VP8 or VP9 video with Opus audio. iPhones on the default “High Efficiency” setting record HEVC inside a MOV file, and any PC or app that can’t decode HEVC will refuse it, whatever the file is called. WebM, which screen recordings often produce, tends to get stuck on upload pages that expect MP4.

Size comes down to bitrate, the data per second, multiplied by length. 720p at Medium in Compress video works out to roughly 18.7 MB per minute with audio, and 1080p has 2.25 times the pixels, so it needs roughly that much more data to look as sharp. Audio at 128 kbps takes less than 1 MB a minute, so squeezing the sound barely helps. MP3 and M4A (AAC) are lossy, WAV is uncompressed at around 10 MB a minute in stereo, and FLAC is lossless compression that leaves the sound untouched. GIF has no audio; it strings together 256-color pictures, so a few seconds often outweigh the same scene as MP4.

How to use it

When it helps

Tidying a lecture or meeting recordingRemove silence from video cuts the stretches where nobody speaks, and Burn subtitles into video writes an SRT or VTT file onto the picture so the text shows up in any app.
Posting a clip with people in itBlur faces in video follows faces as they move, covers them, and lists the moments where it may have missed one.
A short moment on a loopVideo to GIF lets you set the start, the length (up to 10 seconds), the frame rate (5, 8 or 12) and the width (240, 360 or 480 px). For longer scenes or sound, MP4 is smaller and sharper.
Streaming from your own siteMP4 to HLS streaming gives you 2-, 6- or 10-second segments and a playlist (index.m3u8) in one ZIP. Unzip it, upload the folder to your server, and point your player at the playlist.

Common snags

Can’t I just rename the file to .mp4?The extension is only a label, so renaming leaves the codec untouched. MOV and MP4 share a common ancestry, so a renamed MOV sometimes plays, but a video that failed because of its codec will still fail. That calls for a tool that re-encodes.
An iPhone video won’t open on a PC or in these tools. That PC or browser can’t decode HEVC. In a browser that plays HEVC, such as Safari on a Mac, run Compress video with the resolution set to “Keep original”; where supported, you get an H.264 MP4 at the same dimensions. Going forward, set Settings → Camera → Formats to “Most Compatible”.
Will converting an MP3 to WAV or FLAC improve the sound? No. What the MP3 discarded can’t be brought back, so the file just gets bigger. Use WAV or FLAC when an editor asks for them or the source was lossless, and avoid bouncing between lossy formats.
Why do some tools finish in seconds and others take as long as the video?Trimming and repackaging into MP4 copy the data as it is, so they’re quick. The exception is WebM to MP4, which is re-encoded so the result plays everywhere. Compressing, subtitles, face blurring, silence removal and WebM or HLS conversion re-encode the picture and take time in proportion to length, so keep the tab visible while they run.

Tip Every re-encode costs a little quality, so compress once, at the very end, and keep the original until you’ve checked the result.
