Why vidmoa exists

vidmoa is the video and audio part of moatool (moatool.app), a family of free browser tools. It is built and maintained by one independent developer, not a company. It started with compressing, trimming and extracting MP3, and grew one tool at a time: screen recording, face blurring, silence removal and burned-in subtitles.

Why your videos are not uploaded

The files people bring to a video tool are often private: recorded meetings, calls with a doctor or a lawyer, family videos. Video files are also big, so uploading one can take minutes before anything starts. Because every vidmoa tool runs entirely inside your browser, both problems go away: your file never leaves your device, and a video of several hundred megabytes starts right away. The "0 B uploaded" counter on each page and your browser’s network tab both let you check.

How it stays free

With no server processing video, fixed costs are tiny, so the tools stay free with no sign-up, quotas or watermarks. Running costs are covered by ads, and a paid Pro option removes them for people who prefer that. Ads have nothing to do with how your files are handled.

How it improves

Features that fall short are taken down. Automatic subtitle extraction worked well in English, but its Korean transcription was not accurate enough, so it was pulled from the menu, and its page explains why. Running in the browser has limits too: conversions that need re-encoding take longer the longer the video is, and screen recording only works on a computer because mobile browsers do not support it. Guides are in the blog (in Korean).
